How do I join band?Rising 6th Grader?
You can sign up for band when you sign up for all of your other 6th grade classes. If you want to sign up after the fact, please contact Mrs. Fulton at [email protected] to help. Rising 7th or 8th Grader? You do not need prior experience to join band as a 7th or 8th grader at EMS. If you are interested in joining band please contact Mrs. Fulton at [email protected] . |

What will I need?All Students will need to acquire the following method book:
** The reed is what enables the instrument to make a sound. One reed will typically last two to four weeks (depending on use and care) and cost around $2.00-$3.00 per reed. Trumpet & Euphonium players will need a bottle of Valve Oil. A bottle of valve oil costs between $1.00 to $5.00 and will last for several months. Trombone players will need a bottle of SLIDE GREASE or “Slide-o-mix”. This is a specific grease made for a trombone slide. Percussion players are required to provide their own bell kit and drumsticks. |
where can I get an instrument?Instruments can be either rented or purchased from one of several local music stores, or you could obtain one from a family member that is no longer using it. Please contact the music store directly for rental and purchasing pricing and policy information.

Does ems provide instruments?The school has a limited number of all beginner level instruments to loan out for student use. However, families that are able to provide an instrument for their child are encouraged to do so. Please speak with Mrs. Fulton if you need to use a school owned instrument.
If you wish to play percussion you must provide your own instrument. The school does not have any of these instruments to loan out to students. |
